On a 3.5 acre site near Falmouth, the £3 million development will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in the South West and the only manufacturing centre in the South West to offer everything on one site – from design through to precision engineering, fabrication, hydraulics, embedded software, electronics and 3D printing. Because everything is on one site, this will enable streamlined project management and faster turnaround of projects.
Rob Ferris, MD of Feritech Global, says: “This flagship development will have regional importance and bring significant benefits to the local economy. It is really exciting to see the build progressing. The centre has needed very significant groundworks as we will be manufacturing extremely heavy items weighing many tons.. This means there has had to be months of work on preparing the foundations. But now we are at the incredibly exciting stage where the building’s frame has been erected this week and we can see the plans coming to life.
This new manufacturing and innovation centre will be a major addition to Cornwall. It will help local innovators turn their ideas into reality and help the region seize the full potential of emerging opportunities such as Floating Offshore Wind in the Celtic Sea. It is fantastic to see the build progressing and feel that our long-held vision for the future is now taking shape.”
