The Feritech FT521 Auto-Drop Corer system is an upgrade from our standard Piston & Gravity Corers and is a popular tool within the marine industry, combining operational safety with survey efficiency and reliability. The improved recovery and less disturbed sediment samples yields a higher quality result compared to that of a standard Corer systems.
The Auto Drop Corer system allows the drop and freefall rate to be controlled electronically through the use of an acoustic altimeter and closed loop control circuit. As the corer is lowered the acoustic sonar system measures the distance to the seabed and triggers the release at a pre-determined height.
