Feritech runs tooling trials for Cutwel at the cutting edge

Cutwel was established in 1996 as a small family run company and has grown to become one of the largest independent engineering tooling suppliers in the United Kingdom, serving over 10,000 precision engineering companies nationwide. Cutwel is the UK agent and sole supplier for manufacturers including: YG-1, Korloy, Gerardi, UFS, Insize and WTO amongst many others.

As an innovative company, Cutwel is constantly developing new products and in Autumn 2021, Cutwel gave two of their latest cutters to Feritech to trial within their precision machining unit.

Feritech trialled the new cutters as part of the manufacturing process for a product they were creating for one of their international engineering clients.

Matt Owens, Machinist at Feritech, said: “Many of the advanced engineering products we design and build are at the frontiers of innovation. This time we were literally carrying out trials at the cutting edge! As well as looking to deliver pioneering solutions for our clients, we are always looking to innovate in our manufacturing techniques. This means we are always very happy to work in partnership with suppliers like Cutwel and help with trialling their new products. These new cutters performed brilliantly in our trials.”

Kurtis Johnson of Cutwel said: “We design all our new products with the needs of our precision engineering customers firmly in mind and it is vital to test out our new products in the field to ensure they deliver. Feritech Global is a valued partner which shares our values and approach. Both companies are committed to innovation and the pursuit of excellent customer service. So it is good to be able to work together on new product development trials – a great example of the supply chain collaboration.”
